YECO (Youth Exploring Creative Outlets) is a non-profit organization created in 2014.
Youth Exploring Creative Outlets aims to engage youth who have expressed interest in the arts, technology & culture sectors to develop a broad range of skills by having a hands-on experience where they can practice, perform and be guided by knowledgeable, accredited and experienced individuals who have been successful in their field of employment by embracing technological advancements.
We focus on addressing the local workforce’s diverse needs by offering various business initiatives and interventions to meet the needs and goals of today’s youth. Providing them with a deeper understanding & first-hand experience at a younger age, strengthening their overall skills & providing them with a legitimate and important mode of artistic confidence and education designed to propel them into the workforce of Nova Scotia.
The YECO non-profit organization has provided youth with enhanced opportunities for learning in and through the arts. The focus is “Learning First” by listening to the interests of young people, addressing the needs of marginalized youth groups, and obtaining the necessary outside funding. This allows for the individual and collective appreciation for obtaining the skills to succeed in the workforce. We promote a community-driven program based on respect, responsibility and success.
